Call-To-Action: Mobile Commerce Extended Packaging Work Group

Over the last year a dedicated group of Users, Mobile Industry Companies, and GS1 Member Organisations have developed a

White Paper on Mobile Commerce

. The first business application that the Mobile Commerce User Group and GS1 propose developing is called Extended Packaging. This application is the idea of getting more information about a product via a mobile phone or in general, linking an object with virtual information or services with a mobile device.

This GSMP Work Group will focus on development of industry accepted guidelines and standards for Identification and Data Capture, Information Flow and Messaging, and other necessary elements of the business-to-consumer dialogue enabled by mobile phones. The initial scope of this project will be on consumer product goods and the related locations and services. The three key deliverables of this project are: 1) an implementation guide for use of existing standards, 2) an end-to-end pilot with all stakeholders, and 3) a gap analysis for alteration of existing standards and creation of new standards.

Call-To-Action: General Specifications Publication Team

The General Specifications Publication Team will be responsible for incorporating the approved Gen Spec Change Notifications (GSCN) into the GS1 General Specifications document and publishing the GS1 General Specifications document on an annual release cycle. This is a “standing” development team which should consist of MOs, publication experts, translation experts, and all others interested in the publishing process of the GS1 General Specifications.
