Public Review: GS1 Architecture Principles
This document defines the common GS1 architectural principles that will guide future development of all GS1 standards. It was developed by the GS1 Architecture Group in accordance with their role. All comments are due by no later than 5:00 PM ET on 28 Aug 2008.

Public Review: CR 08-000060, GDSN BRG
The 30 Day Public Review for CR 08-060 has begun. This CR enables users to indicate that the Trade Item information for a new item that is passed to the data recipient is preliminary and will be updated to its final values at a later stage using an optional attribute. There is no requirement to change any other validations, business rules or cardinalities. Retailers often ask their suppliers for Item Data for a new item a certain time before the item is introduced. In many cases the supplier does not have all the final attribute values for the item until the first batch is produced. Attribute values that often need adjustment or completion at a late stage include measurements, weights and sometimes package type. It would be beneficial for the retailer to know for which trade items the values are preliminary and may be changed at a later stage.
The Maintenance Release WG determined that the solution should be an optional attribute that indicates an item is preliminary. If the attribute is not populated then by default the item data is not preliminary. This public review contains the Link to the CR 08-060 in the CR System and the Business Requirement see tab for CR 08-060. The Public Review will end on 14 September 2008 (Close of Public Review). NOTE: Both the GDSN BRG and the Maintenance Release Work Group state that though the BRAD and BMS changes will be simple the implementation is complex requiring a lot of work by Data Pools, Retailers and suppliers. The proper amount of lead time will be needed along with the associated documentation changes required to implement this change. Though optional this attribute can’t be ignored.
