Public Review: BarCodes & ID BRG WO# 08-000147 - GLN Website Pointer

Following the success of pointing to the GTIN Allocation Rules website from the GS1 General Specifications, it was requested that a pointer be added to the GS1 General Specifications to point directly to the GLN Allocation Rules Website Note: the section numbering has also been slightly amended to make it 100% consistent with the order of Section 2 (GTIN, SSCC, Assets, GLN, …) BarCodes & ID TDT has completed their work on the General Specification Change Notice (GSCN) and has approved it on 2 September 2008 for a 30 day public review. The review period will start on Friday 12 September and will close on Monday 13 October 2008.

Public Review: BarCodes & ID BRG WO# 08-000160 - Add Figures TO Section 1.4.3

The two figures 1.3.7 -1 and 1.3.7-2 (from GS1 Gen Specs version 7) which provided a synopsis of the GS1 Prefixes and GS1 -8 Prefixes respectively, were not included in the Version 8 of the GS1 General Specifications - this appears to be have been an oversight. The lack of them means we have nowhere to point to:

·         The fact that GS1 US Prefixes start 00001 (to avoid conflict with GTIN-8)

·         No GS1-8 Prefix list (which is not identical to the GS1 Prefix List)

This work order is to add the figures to Section 1.4.2 (GS1 Prefixes) of the GS 1 General Specifications. The BarCodes & ID TDT has completed their work on this General Specification Change Notice (GSCN) and has approved it on 2 September 2008 for a 30 day public review. The review period will start on Friday, 12 September 2008 and will close on Monday, 13 October 2008.

Public Review: BarCodes & ID BRG WO# 08-000161 - Improve Navigation & Maintenance to Sections 3 & 7

This change aims to:

• Organise section 3 by numeric order of AI

• Add hyperlinks to the numerical table of the AIs (Figure 3.2) to find the sections. This is also necessary as a quality check because with over 100 AIs we could omit a definition for one (NOTE - This happened in Version 8.0 with AI 7003 & AI 8110)

• Add a an explanation for the various nomenclature used (e.g., n2, n…6, an…20, …)

• Remove details of 'regional' Coupon Code usage as this can ONLY be supported by local MOs

• Remove duplicate data between Figure 3.2 & Figure 7.13 (solution delete Figure 7.13, refer only to Figure 3.2 and maintain in one place only)

The BarCodes & ID TDT has completed their work on this General Specification Change Notice (GSCN) and has approved it on 2 September 2008 for a 30 day public review. The review period will start on Friday 12 September 2008 and will close on Monday, 13 October 2008.

Public Review: BarCodes & ID BRG WO# 08-000162 - Improve Navigation & Maintenance to Sections 2 & 5

This request aims to:

• Update Figure 2.1.2.3.2 – 1 (to be labeled GTIN-8, GTIN-12, GTIN-13)

• Section 2 (all) Make the correct cross references to Section 3

• Add GTIN-8 as a carrier choice for very small healthcare items and refer to the correct print quality table.

• Section 2.6.7 (Refer users of 'regional' Coupon Code usage to the appropriate GS1 MOs documentation)

• Section 5.1.1. make undated references to the appropriate ISO standards

• Reintroduce Figure 5.5.2.7-8 (The DataMatrix print quality guidelines for very small healthcare had been removed between GS1 General Specifications version 7.1 & 8.0 in error) • 5.8.1.1. and 5.6.1.1.1 (remove the ambiguity - spaces cannot be encoded using GS1 Application Identifiers)

The BarCodes & ID TDT has completed their work on this General Specification Change Notice (GSCN) and has approved it on 2 September 2008 for a 30 day public review. The review period will start on Friday 12 September 2008 and will close on Monday, 13 October 2008.
