Call-To-Action: AIDC Application Standard For Healthcare Work Group The Objective/Scope of the AIDC Application Standard For Healthcare Work Group is to:
- Create a Business Requirements Analysis Document (BRAD) to record the global business requirements for product and package labeling of healthcare products in the global healthcare supply chain. The marking and labeling is for automatic identification and data capture (AIDC) with the specific focus on patient safety. For this Call-To-Action the supply chain starts at the manufacturer with the finished healthcare product and ends at the point of patient care. Healthcare products within the scope of work are: Pharmaceuticals including Vaccines, Biologicals and Therapeutic Nutritionals, Medical Devices including Implants. (Note: Medical Instruments are excluded from this request and are planned for Phase 2 on the GS1 Healthcare Roadmap.) The AIDC carriers include both bar codes and RFID tags. The GS1 Healthcare AIDC Application Standards Work Team has gathered global business, data and carrier requirements since their formation in October 2006. All this information will be made available to this group.
- Create a GS1 General Specification Change Notice (GSCN) for the enhancement of the GS1 General Specification. The GSCN is the approved document to be developed, approved and ratified. GSCN's are the recognized standard until incorporated into the GS1 General Specification during the annual publication cycle. The AIDC Application Standard for Healthcare which highlights the changes to the sections of the GS1 General Specification will become attached to the covering GSCN form
