Public Review: GDSN Trade Item Implementation Guide: Item Futurisation

The Trade Item Implementation Guide Work Group is presenting an updated topic to be included in the GDSN Trade Item Implementation Guide: Item Futurisation . The original Trade Item Implementation Guide was delivered in January of 2007. The guide's objective is to supplement the formal GS1 GDSN standards with advice on their implementation and operation. It is in no way normative or definitive and is not a standard. It includes implementation guides for a variety of the more complicated issues. It seeks to increase consistency and ease of implementation by explaining the standards and providing real-world examples. This public review is only for the updated Item Futurisation topic. Following the successful pilot of Item Futurisation within the GDSN Network, a simplification of the requirements was agreed.  This takes effect with Maintenance Release 3 of GDSN, in production on 28-March-2009.  The Item Futurisation topic in the Trade Item Implementation Guide should reflect that simplification, by removing all reference to the attribute replaceTradeItemID. Once approved it will be replace the existing Item Futurisation topic in the GDSN Trade Item Implementation Guide, which is located on the GS1 website at: http://www.gs1.org/services/gsmp/kc/gdsn/index.html.

Since this is not a standards document, it will not go through an eBallot.  All comments are due by no later than 18-Jan-2009.
