The Data Accuracy BRG is creating a sub-team to determine Frozen Package Measurement Tolerances. The Tolerances that come from analysis of this Pilot's data would then be added to the GDSN Package Measurement Rules Section 6 on Tolerances via GSMP Change Request.

Call-To-Action: eCom Intelligent Packaging Work Group

The timeframe to join this new group has been extended and the kick off call will be held Monday, August 31, 2009.
An industry group has expressed a need to develop global standards to aid the communication of package label content. This communication typically happens between a manufacturer/ supplier and their packaging design vendors. Currently, various processes are utilized to handle this communication and can be rather cumbersome at times. There is also a need to share package label content with downstream recipients of the products (e.g. eRetailers, Retailers, Distributors, and Brokers). These recipients would like to have electronic access to the information as it would greatly enhance their marketing efforts in relation specifically to, but not limited to, electronic commerce applications.

The Main Objectives of the Work Group are to define Business Requirements for:
 - The choreography of the communication of artwork information between suppliers, and designers
 - The information and messages necessary for communication between suppliers and designers in the process are defined
 - The communication of this information between suppliers and their data recipients  (e.g. eRetailers, Retailers, Distributors, and Brokers)

CR 08-285 Public Review, GDSN BRG

The Public Review for CR 08-285 begins August-13-2009 and ends September-14-2009.

•  Proposal: Create the ability to identify a level below each for trade item contents that are co-equal:
•  Definition : "Create a content identification type and value in the trade item to identify a co-equal* part of the distinct hierarchal level where communicated as well as the type of identifier. The content identifier type will include values from the additional trade item identification type as well as GTIN. The content being identified does not represent a level within the hierarchical configuration being communicated. This identifier may or may not represent a trade item, as defined in the GS1 General Specifications. As such the identifier may or may not represent a level of a hierarchical configuration, nor does it need a physical barcode nor a separate GS1 item record." Note: * Co-equal meaning that each of the parts or "contents" are the same or equal.      
•  GDSN BRG Change Management: We also considered change management  and TIIG (Trade Item Implementation Guideline) documentation details and It was determined that this CR will not make the current 2.4  GDSN Maintencance Release and any short term need could be met by an AVP (Attribute Value Pair Fast Track Solution). This will allow for the proper time necessary for TIIG work as well as change management in general allow for a lot of back office work for retailers and suppliers among others that take advantage of this change.

The Public review for CR 09-184 begins August-20-2009 and ends September-21-2009. CR 09-184
Proposal: Add additional optional attributes and code values to the core message to better be able to provide information on various categories of products, mainly related to plumbing and piping.  Full attribute list in the attached spreadsheet.  We would like to have these attributes as fast track AVPs until such time as they can be finalized into the network.
