BarCodes & EPC Interoperability Requirements Work Group (Oct 2009) - WO 09-241
In 2008 the GS1 Architecture Group formed a Parsing Sub Group to investigate interoperability issues associated with the standards and implementation for bar codes and EPC. Building upon the recommendations in the 9 January 2009 report Interoperability between Bar Codes and EPC - Board Committee for Standards , a project was launched to manage the implementation of the recommendations.
Objective/Scope of the Bar Codes & EPC Interoperability Requirements Work Group WG:
The objective of the Bar Codes & EPC Interoperability Requirements Work Group is to gather and analyze business requirements for use cases that require interoperability among the GS1 data carriers and their supporting infrastructure. This shall be done from a multi-sector perspective.
Product Recall Work Group (Oct 2009) - WO-165
Businesses, end users and regulators in various markets around the world have an interest in establishing a common method to recall products at various points of the supply chain. The need exists for a standard set of business processes and the supporting data that enables trading partners in a supply chain to quickly and efficiently initiates a recall and track its progress through to its conclusion (meaning the identified product is no longer available for consumption).
Objective/Scope of the Product Recall Work Group:
The objective is to ensure that the product recall requirements are supported by the Global Traceability Standard and develop the recall notification standard message. This group will be leveraging the work completed by GS1 Canada, a Business Requirements Analysis Document (BRAD) recording the global business requirements for product recall in the supply chain which is to set the base for cross industry requirements. This recall process includes a unique set of data requirements as follows: GS1 Standards Keys of GTIN (Global Trade Item Number), GLN Global Location Number) and GDTI (Global Document Type Identifier).
Serial Number Replacement or Supply WG (Oct 2009) - WO 09-206
Objective/Scope of the GSMP Serial Number Replacement or Supply WG:
The scope of this work group is to develop a comprehensive set of business requirements for how companies deal with the loss of a serialization on an instance of an item. This will include rules for how and when these "re-serializations" can occur and will be the basis for one or more technical solutions that may pertain to barcodes and RFID (note: the technical solution is NOT part of the scope of this group). Further, the group will take a starting point the requirements generated from the GSMP "Missing Identifier Resolution" Work Group.
