Call-To-Action: GDSN Trade Item Implementation Guide Work Group

The GDSN Trade Item Implementation Guide Work Group has been meeting for over 3 years and has produced 10 issues of the GDSN Trade Item Implementation Guide. This Call-To-Action will allow the Work Group to continue to meet from Jan-2010 through Jun-2010 and to develop subsequent issues of the GDSN Trade Item Implementation Guide.  Another Call-to-Action will be distributed in Jul-2010 if additional work is required. Public Review: GDSN Modular Trade Item BMS Package including Technical Solution(TSD)

The current design of the trade item data model creates limitations and constraints on the business usage of the item information communicated through the Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN) inhibiting its use by many users. In response to this challenge and the need to bring new industries into the GDSN, a more modular and flexible Trade Item model is required to better meet the business needs of sectors currently participating in the GDSN as well as sectors looking to participate in the future. The intention of this Business Message Standard (BMS) is to provide the message designs and process changes necessary to perform trade item synchronisation in the Global Data Synchronisation Network using a more flexible, context based trade item. 

This BMS Package includes the BSD outlining the Catalogue Item Synchronisation Process using a modular design. This package also contains the necessary schemas and xml example files for the Catalogue Item Synchronisation Process using a modular design. Please note that this is a 30 Days Public Review. Start Date is 10-December-2009 and End Date is 12-January-2010.
