10-054 eBallot, GDSN BRG
The eBallot for CR 10-054 begins May-19-2010 and ends June-3-2010, extended due to a USA Holiday.
Proposal: Create a repeatable grouping of attributes to express the location, type and format of any dates on packaging to include:
A. A renaming of the current packagingMarkedExpirationDateType attribute to tradeItemDateOnPackagingType with additional code list values / definitions added;
a. Production Date - The production date is the production or assembly date determined by the manufacturer. The date may refer to the trade item itself or to items contained.
b. Packaging Date - The packaging date is the date when the goods were packed as determined by the packager. The date may refer to the trade item itself or to items contained.
c. Best Before Date - The best before date indicates the ideal consumption or best effective use date of a product. It is a statement about quality. It is often referred to as a sell by date or a minimum durability date.
d. Expiration Date - The expiration date is the date that determines the limit of consumption or use of a product. Its meaning is determined based on the trade item context (e.g., for food, the date will indicate the possibility of a direct health risk resulting from use of the product after the date, for pharmaceutical products, it will indicate the possibility of an indirect health risk resulting from the ineffectiveness of the product after the date). It is often referred to as "use by date" or "maximum durability date.”
B. Add: Trade Item Date Location(Optional): Free text description of the location of the date marking: Text 1..70
C. Include Trade Item Date Format(Optional): Note Trade Item Date Format was part of release 2.7.
