To all GPC/GDSN Community Members,

GS1 is asking that you please take a few minutes to complete a short survey which will aid the GPC SMG in their on-going of development of classification around Fresh/Grocery Foods. Deadline for submission is August 26th.

Background:
GSMP Work Order (WR) 11-000125 was submitted by GS1 Germany on behalf of the GS1 Germany GDSN expert group and is supported by the GS1 Germany GS1 Standards Steering Group. The requirements were elaborated through a dedicated GPC sub-team within the framework of replacing the German classification system by GPC.  This work effort, which is undertaken by the GPC SMG Fresh / Grocery Foods Sub-Team,  reviews the classification structure for Prepared / Processed Fruits, Vegetables, Meat, Sausage, and Sea-Food.  The issue is the inability currently in GPC to distinguish between products which are preserved in different ways.  In particular the GPC team is considering 3 different approaches to provide a method to separate products that are dried from other products that are run through any sterilisation processes.  If you need more information, please see the attached presentation prepared by members of the sub-team which defines the differences in preservation and shows product examples and describes the alternatives and their potential impact.

The Purpose of this Survey:
GS1 is would like to understand how members of the GS1 GPC and GDSN communities would prefer to handle Preservation Techniques around these Fresh Foods & Grocery products and what impact the various solutions would have on your companies and community.
