Package measurement Rule Updates

This is the final Draft of the GDSN Package Measurement Rules Implementation Guide  which has been adjusted from the public review comments.  Once it is motioned  to publish it will be finalized by doing a GS1 documentation quality check and creating a final document file before it is moved into the Knowledge Center in the 3 locations below.

Highlights of the changes:

·         This document was formerly labeled “Best Practices Guideline for Standard Package Measurement Tolerances” and needs to be re-labeled in all 3 web-sites to “GDSN Package Measurement Rules Implementation Guide”.·         Three chapters were removed from the old Best Practices document because they were more related to the Trade Item Implementation Guideline so  Peter Zaepfel and Milan Vacval have said they can help your Work Group review these 3 chapters to see if they cover any new ground for use  in the Trade Item Implementation Guideline.     Knowledge Center Data Accuracy GDSN location:http://www.gs1.org/services/gsmp/kc/gdsn/index.html   GDSN Inc. locationhttp://www.gs1.org/productssolutions/gdsn/technical/index.html  GDSN Data Quality Frame Work Resource Library Location:http://www.gs1.org/productssolutions/gdsn/dqf/library.html

Public Review: CR 08-000189, GDSN BRG

The 15 Day Public Review for CR 08-189 has begun. Proposal: “Include the optional capability for the supplier to express that control of hazardous substances regulations may be applicable to the product, the stated set of regulations, identified by agency and regulation name, and the electronic address as to where to locate the ‘out of network’ regulation data can be found. There may be more than one agency, regulation name and electronic address if there are multiple controls of hazardous substances that may be applicable to the product. The request is for four fast track attributes (recognising that dependency and validations cannot be applied) until such time that the attributes are included in the core standard.”   This Public Review contains a link to CR 08-189 in the CR system and the Business Requirement with a table within (See Tab CR 08-189). Call-To-Action: Traceability Work Group

The Global Traceability Standard (GTS) aims to be the generic, foundational standard for traceability in ANY industry sector. However, being based on the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, the current GTS is not generic enough. Any items in the GTS that are sector specific should be removed to ensure it is truly generic. It was identified by GS1 Healthcare and included on their Roadmap that a standard for Traceability in Healthcare was required.   GTS was reviewed by GS1 Healthcare Global Traceability Work Team, and the work team provided documents which constitute recommendations for changes to the GTS to make it truly generic.
