GSMP eBallots (4)

For GSMP/GDSN Business Requirements Group (BRG) members who are eligible to vote, the following eBallots have been posted in the GS1 Community Room:

 CR 10-113 eBallot, GDSN BRG

The eBallot for CR 10-113 begins June-9-2010 and ends June-25-2010 extended due to U-Connect conflict.  CR 10-113 Add "USDA - US Department of Agriculture" to the GDSN Organic Claim Agency list and the PackageMarksEnvironmentCodeList. This addition will allow products qualified and/or labeled with the USDA organic certification mark to be identified as such in the GDSN. Adding the value will decrease the current risk that the organic certification of products published in the GDSN is not being accurately described. US legislation, The Organic Foods Production Act of 1990, authorizes the US Department of Agriculture to certify as organic food and fiber products that meet the requirements of this Act and implementing regulations. Adding USDA as an organic claim agency and PackageMarksEnvironmentCodeList will allow suppliers of products that qualify for and/or carry this marking to be identified in the GDSN. Please cast your eBallot by 3:30 PM ET on June-25-2010 (Close of eBallot) - Simple Level of Impact 2.

CR-10-054 - GDSN BRG

Proposal: 10-054 Submitter: Proposal: Create a repeatable grouping of attributes to express the location, type and format of any dates on packaging to include.

A. Rename the current packagingMarkedExpirationDateType attribute to tradeItemDateOnPackagingType with additional code list values / definitions added;

a.  Production Date -  The production date is the production or assembly date determined by the manufacturer. The date may refer to the trade item itself or to items contained.

b.  Packaging Date  -  The packaging date is the date when the goods were packed as determined by the packager. The date may refer to the trade item itself or to items contained.

c.  Best Before Date - The best before date indicates the ideal consumption or best effective use date of a product. It is a statement about quality. It is often referred to as a sell by date or a minimum durability date.

d.   Expiration Date - The expiration date is the date that determines the limit of consumption or use of a product. Its meaning is determined based on the trade item context (e.g., for food, the date will indicate the possibility of a direct health risk resulting from use of the product after the date, for pharmaceutical products, it will indicate the possibility of an indirect health risk resulting from the ineffectiveness of the product after the date). It is often referred to as "use by date" or "maximum durability date.”

B. Add: Trade Item Date Location (Optional): Free text description of the location of the date marking:  Text 1..70

C. Include Trade Item Date Format (Optional):  Note Trade Item Date Format was part of release 2.7.
