Call-To-Action: Traceability in Healthcare II Work GroupThe Objective/Scope of the Traceability in Healthcare II Work Group is to develop a suite of Global Standards that enable Traceability in Healthcare (Process standard(s) and technical standards). The team will also develop supporting products such as guidance on enabling technologies and migration plans for all stakeholders.

The Call-To-Action is available at: http://www.gs1.org/docs/gsmp/call_to_action/2009/CTA_Traceability_Healthcare_2_Feb_2009.pdf

Call-To-Action: GDSN BRG Membership to work on Household Office Furnishings To help the Hardlines and Electronics Industries better achieve data synchronization, the Hardlines and Electronics Attribute Initiative (HEAI) was formed, and has made steady progress since its initial conference call on 7-Dec-06. This group was formed to look at product specific attributes that are not currently transmitted through the GDS Network, and to determine how we can define these attributes into a standard to enable passing of this data via the GDSN. This will enable more complete product data to be sent electronically without utilizing proprietary, non-standard methods of communication between trading partners, which ultimately will result in cost savings for all trading partners. Successful implementation will also increase adoption of the GDSN within the Hardlines and Consumer Electronics verticals. Attribute submissions have been received for the GPC bricks in the Household\Office Furniture family of GPC product codes. They have been harmonized and are ready for review. It is now our intention to begin reviewing, completing, and preparing for further processing these attributes at a physical meeting on 23-Mar-09 at the GSMP/JAG Meeting in Los Angeles, California.

The Call-To-Action is available at: http://www.gs1.org/docs/gsmp/call_to_action/2009/CTA_Household_Office_Furnishings_Feb_2009.pdf

Approved GSMP Change Requests (3)

08-275 - Brand Name Language Requirement

Adds 2 new attributes to accommodate the brand name requirement for language. The existing Brand and Sub-brand attributes will remain strings in this proposal. This is to say that you cannot specify any language for the primary brand and sub-brands and that the assumption is that these are in the same language as all of the other single language data in the trade item. It is intended to implement these new attributes with the Multi-Description data type, with which a Language Code is always sent together with the text.
A.  Brand Name - Language Specific
        a.   Field Length = 70 characters
        b.   Allow multiple language iterations = >1
B.   Sub Brand Name - Language Specific
        a.   Field Length = 70 characters
        b.   Allow multiple language iterations = >1

NOTE:  Where a Brand name does not need to be multi-lingual, the existing Brand and Sub-brand attributes are to be used.

08-289 - Increase Field Size healthClaim, nutritionalClaim attributes Food & Beverage extension

Increases the attribute length of the healthClaim & nutritionalClaim attributes in the Food & Beverage Extension to a length of 3000

CR 08-290 - recipientGLN attribute in the CIC message

Changes the definition of recipientGLN in the Catalogue Item Confirmation  message to read:  "The Party, which is authorized to view, use, download a set of Master Data provided by a Data Source. Note this attribute is synonymous with dataRecipient but is in this case the party where the  Catalogue Item Confirmation is originating from. This change reflects the actual current practice that exists in the network today.

Request from Global Product Classification

The GPC governance group is asking for information from trading partners that have either sucess stories to share or can provide insight into how they use the GPC classification in their internal systems.

Tpoics can include:

  • How or if you use GPC in your internal systems

  • As a supplier have you implemented GPC

  • As a retailer, do you subscribe using GLN. If not,why

  • As a retailer, do you use the GPC to route incoming messages

  • What challenges do you have using or implementing GPC

They would like to have this input to use in presentations to be made during the GSMP event in Los Angeles, California next month.

If any of you can share one or two slides for me to provide the GPC group, it will be greatly appreciated. Better yet, if any of you will be attending the event and would like to present your own slides, that will be more impactful.

Thank you for your assistance and input!
